Microsoft Paint on Windows 11 is getting support for “Cocreator,” an AI feature that uses DALL-E integration to generate images. The feature has been in the testing phase recently via the Microsoft Insider program, and now it is beginning a general rollout for Windows 11 users, though not everyone will get access to it yet. Some users may be asked to join a waiting list. For those seeing the new feature, it can be accessed with the new Cocreator button in Paint, on the right-hand side of the toolbar.

It works similarly to other generative AI tools like Bing Image Creator: simply input a description of the image you’d like to create and let Cocreator do the rest. Users have reported that Paint Cocreator is a powerful and easy to use tool that yields some impressive results. See below for a tutorial on how to use Microsoft Paint Cocreator.

Microsoft Paint Cocreator rolled out to Canary and Dev channel users in late September before coming to the Release Preview Channel. Microsoft Paint has seen some marked improvements over the course of the year in addition to this impressive new AI feature. Among them are layers, background removal and transparency effects. An in-app tutorial is included with Paint Cocreator for beginners.
